Retrofit & compatibility

Compatibility & retrofit guidance.

Eco-Kold HCR blends are retrofit-ready — designed to drop into the equipment already in the field with minimal to no equipment changes. Every retrofit still starts with a few checks. Detailed per-gas charge and oil specifications are available on request.

Before you retrofit

Confirm the system first.

Eco-Kold blends are matched to the legacy gas they replace. Confirm the system against the BHCR compatibility guide for each refrigerant before replacement.

01 · Identify

Verify the existing refrigerant

Confirm the gas currently in the system before any replacement, and match it to the corresponding Eco-Kold blend.

02 · Charge

Charge size & system suitability

Confirm charge size and system suitability for the matching blend. Hydrocarbon blends typically run a fraction of the charge — recharge by weight.

03 · Oil

Refrigerant-oil compatibility

Compatible with mineral and synthetic refrigerant oils. Confirm the oil in the system before replacement.

04 · Equipment

Equipment limits

Not compatible with centrifugal compressors. Review equipment listings and local codes for the installation.

05 · Safety

Hydrocarbon (A3) handling

Hydrocarbon refrigerants (ASHRAE A3, flammable). Installation and service by trained, qualified technicians only, in accordance with local codes and equipment listings.

06 · Guidelines

Follow BHCR guidance

Always review and follow official BHCR installation and safety guidelines to ensure proper and safe operation.
